SPRING SEMESTER SURGES WITH NUMEROUS ACTIVITIES
The Spring 2007 semester was eventful for the Delta Mu Chapter. We welcomed our new house director, Brenda Snow and her adorable dog “BB!” Mrs. Brenda, referred to by most as “Mimi”, is endeavoring to make several changes to our menu. By carefully balancing the meals with healthy components, she is attempting to satisfy our tastes and our figures!
Delta Mu Hosts National Field Consultant
In February, we hosted a visit from our national field consultant, Laura Terrell, Baylor ’03. The officers spent time with Laura to learn how to improve their positions. We were delighted to receive a positive report from her complimenting our numerous chapter strengths, which include our philanthropic efforts, campus involvement/reputation and our ever-growing alumnae support!
Philanthropy Projects Benefit Many
Tri Deltas celebrated Valentine’s Day with a stoplight crush party on February 13 at 4th and 23rd, a local venue. Delta Mu sent homemade Valentines for St. Jude patients and continued one of our newest traditions of complimentary Valentine’s Day Babysitting for local alumnae. In March, several members volunteered at the RISE center on campus and our annual Cookout for Cancer was held Friday, April 20. While dining on hamburgers and hotdogs, our guests were entertained with music by local guitarists and participated in a raffle to win donated prizes from area businesses.
Sisters Plan Successful Recruitment Gatherings
This spring, the Chapter prepared for the fall recruitment by striving to perfect the new songs and skits! Recruitment Chairman, Ashley Aitken ’05, planned a successful St. Patrick’s Day party for our potential new members. During the University’s Panhellenic Weekend in April, Tri Deltas hosted a luau for potential new members at Mellow Mushroom.
Laddie Neal ’75 Speaks at Pansy Breakfast
One of the semester’s highlights was a celebration for alumnae from the class of 1957 who returned to the Chapter House for their Golden Circle Degree! During Parents' Weekend, we held Pansy Breakfast in The Zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium and enjoyed words of wisdom from the featured alumna speaker, Laddie Neil. The Chapter also held candlelight ceremonies for three seniors; Lamar Barton ’04 was lavaliered, Melissa Petro ’03 and Lauren Hoffman ‘03 are engaged!
